Q:  My band wants to play at The Basement.  How do we book a show there?

A:  Fill out a booking request form on the “Booking” page.

Q:  Do you have any requirements for the bands that play at The Basement?

A:  We are trying to establish a “big show mentality” surrounding every show at The Basement.  All we ask of the bands that play at The Basement are that they all work their hardest to promote the show and sell tickets.  We also ask that every band support the local music scene by showing up early to the show,  staying until the end to watch every band on the lineup, and encouraging their fans to do the same.

Q:  Do you have any pre-sale requirements?

A:  No, we don’t “require” bands to pre-sale a specific amount of tickets to play a show at The Basement.  However, we do have pre-sale “expectations”.  While we will never tell a band that sells less than expected that they can’t play their show, we will be hesitant to book that band in the future.

Q:  I noticed that you are booking some big touring bands.  How do you select the local bands to open for these major national acts?

A:  We choose the locals for these shows that have repeatedly met or exceeded their pre-sale expectations for local shows.  For these types of shows, we usually have a big financial guarantee for the touring bands.  In order to meet that guarantee, we need local bands on the bill that have proven that they are reliable, respectful, and hard-working.  For big touring shows, we rarely book a band that has not proven themselves at local shows first.  Local bands should treat every show at The Basement as an audition to be included as an opener on bigger touring shows.

Q:  Are you hiring at The Basement?

A:  We are always looking for reliable, hard-working individuals to be a part of our team.  Currently, all of our positions are filled.  However, any openings will be filled from applications that we have currently have on file.  As such, if you would like to be considered for employment at The Basement, download an application here and bring it by The Basement at your convenience.

Q:  Do you rent out the venue for parties or shows put on by other promoters?  If so, what are your rates?

A:  Rental of the venue depends on availability and the proposed use.  Rental rates vary based on the night of the week, the proposed use, the amount of staff required, etc.  If you are interested in renting the venue, please fill out a booking request form on the “Booking” page.  Please give as much detail in the “Comments” box as possible.
